The Lessons

Lessons are generally held once a week for one hour, with fees based on the number of tutees sharing a lesson. I offer 1:1 tuition at my home in Didsbury. Small group sessions can also be arranged for relatives or friends who wish to learn together.

Following a thorough initial assessment, lessons are tailored to individual needs and learning style, with clear and achievable goals. My tutees thrive through engaging, enjoyable lessons and a multi-sensory approach to learning. I draw upon an extensive bank of learning resources, many of which I have personally developed, to support all areas of English and accommodate a wide range of learning needs.

 Availability

Term-time tuition is generally available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 7 p.m., with a limited number of sessions during school holidays.

I hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate, available to view on request, along with my professional qualifications.

With an extensive bank of differentiated learning resources and entrance exam papers for leading grammar schools, I provide highly targeted support to help students excel. My success rate in securing grammar school places is exceptional. Many families stay with me for several years, often returning with younger siblings, and most of my new tutees come through personal recommendation.

Adult Tuition

My adult tutees come to me for a range of reasons: to improve English for work, support their children's learning, or develop their own literacy and writing skills. I also provide Basic Literacy support for adults who missed parts of their early education.

I assist adults with dissertations and vocational courses, offering guidance with planning, research, grammar, punctuation, proofreading and Harvard referencing.

Homework

I maintain high expectations of both my tutees and myself. Homework is an essential part of my tuition, reinforcing learning, providing structured practice, and enabling me to assess progress and plan future lessons effectively.

The amount of homework is agreed at the outset, taking into account each child's age, workload and other commitments. Regular completion of homework plays an important part in achieving faster, more sustained progress.
